Sausage Calzone
Makes 2 calzones
Ingredients:
1 bell pepper, sliced
1 onion, sliced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound pizza dough, divided
½ cup marinara sauce, divided
1 pound Italian sausage, browned
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a large sauté pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the bell peppers and onions until soft. Roll out each pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. Spread one half of each round with marinara sauce and then sprinkle in 1/2 of the sausage. On top of the sausage, add the onions and peppers, and top each half with the cheese. Fold the side without filling over the side with filling and crimp the edges shut. Place on a nonstick baking sheet and cook for 20 minutes, until the dough is slightly golden and the filling is bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.
